Fern House
The fern house is home to our lovely spore-based plants. They do not reproduce with seeds. They reproduce with spores or sometimes they can reproduce vegetatively, because they’re cool like that.
Palm House
Those who left their souls on the pacific coast can find some of it here. We have six endangered species of palms; the arborist says they are happy and healthy.
Desert House
This might be the only place you can encounter our large expanse of cacti. Cacti grow spikes all over them to protect them from herbivores and other predators who want to eat them.
Orchid House
Orchids are the largest family of flowering plants at 25,000+ species of Orchids on this blue planet. That’s more types of orchid than types of both mammals AND birds!
Alexander Weinhart Bonsai Gallery
Alexander donated $250,000 to allow us to add this hall of Bonsai trees to our building. Bonsais (bone-sigh) are not genetically dwarfed. They have each been pruned and shaped to stay tiny, which is a lot of work for a grower. The oldest bonsai tree we have here is 300 years old.
Seasonal Floral Showroom
This is where we hold shows and events. There’s always something new going on in here when you visit The Conservatory, so please purchase a membership if you like plants as much as we do.
